Is HyperFrames Free? What You Can Do Without Paying and What Costs Credits

Is HyperFrames free? The browser tools and the open-source framework are; HyperFrames Studio AI video uses credits, from 40 per 4-second clip. Plans compared.

Published

Short answer: Partly. On hyperframes.net, the five browser tools (video converter, video to GIF, video thumbnail, image converter and image compressor) are free and do not use credits. The open-source HyperFrames framework on GitHub is also free to run yourself under the Apache 2.0 license. HyperFrames Studio, the hosted AI video and image generator, is not free: every generation costs credits, starting at 40 credits for a 4-second 720p Fast video, and credits come from a one-time pack or a monthly or annual plan. The Studio is embedded at the end of this guide, and it shows the credit cost of a task before you submit it.

People ask this question in many languages. In our Google Search Console data for the last four weeks, short questions such as "pricing?", "quanto custa?", "費用教えて" ("tell me the cost") and "무료야?" ("is it free?") all landed on our pricing page. That page lists plans, but it does not explain in one place what is free, what is not and how far a plan goes. This guide does.

What is free on hyperframes.net

Two things cost nothing at all.

The free browser tools. Five utilities live under Free Tools: a video converter, a video-to-GIF maker, a video thumbnail extractor, an image converter and an image compressor. They process files inside your browser tab with a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg or the browser's own image APIs. They do not need an account, they do not draw on credits, and your file is not uploaded for processing. If your job is converting an MP4, making a GIF from a clip, or grabbing a still frame, you never need to pay.

Reading, comparing and planning. The pricing page, the workflow pages and this blog are open to everyone. You can see what each Studio workflow does and what a typical task costs before you create an account.

What is not promised is a free generation allowance. The pricing page says it plainly: "Any signup promotion appears in your account only when enabled." Sometimes a new account may receive promotional credits, and sometimes it will not. If you see a site claiming that HyperFrames Studio gives everyone unlimited free AI video, it is not describing this service.

What costs credits: HyperFrames Studio

HyperFrames Studio is a hosted workspace with five public generation workflows: text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-to-video for video, plus text-to-image and image-to-image for images. Each generation runs on hosted AI models, so each one costs credits. The cost depends on the workflow, the duration, the resolution and the speed you choose, and the Studio shows the credit cost before you submit, so nothing is charged by surprise.

Two reference points from the pricing page help you estimate:

  • a 4-second 720p Fast video starts at 40 credits;
  • a 15-second video at default settings is 150 credits.

Higher resolutions or other options can cost more. Treat those two numbers as a floor rather than an average, and check the figure the Studio shows for your exact settings.

HyperFrames plans compared

Credits come in three billing styles: a one-time pack (pay once), monthly billing (cancel anytime) and annual billing (the cheapest per month). On October 8, 2026 the annual plans on the pricing page were:

PlanAnnual priceCredits per monthWhat that buys at the floor rateSpeed
Try$29/month, billed $348 a year500about 12 four-second clips, or 3 fifteen-second clipsStandard
Pro$99/month, billed $1,188 a year2,000about 50 four-second clips, or 13 fifteen-second clipsPriority
Max$199/month, billed $2,388 a year8,000about 200 four-second clips, or 53 fifteen-second clipsFastest

The clip counts are simple arithmetic: monthly credits divided by 40 or by 150. They assume every task costs the floor price, so real numbers will be lower if you choose longer or higher-resolution output. One-time packs and monthly billing exist under the same Try, Pro and Max names; their current prices are shown on the pricing page and can change, so we do not copy them here.

Every paid plan lists no watermark and a commercial use license. The Business Certificate requires a yearly plan. Pro adds a priority queue, and Max adds the fastest generation speed. Refunds follow the Refund Policy linked from the pricing page.

How to decide whether you need to pay

Ask what you actually need to produce.

  1. You need to convert, compress or cut a still or GIF from footage you already have. Use the free browser tools. Paying for Studio credits would not help.
  2. You want to render a video from HTML, CSS and JavaScript that you or an AI coding agent wrote. That is the open-source HyperFrames framework (npx hyperframes render), and it is free to run on your own machine. The differences are explained in HyperFrames Studio vs the open-source framework.
  3. You want an AI to generate new footage from a prompt or an image. That is HyperFrames Studio, and it uses credits. Start with the smallest option that fits a real test.

For a first test, a one-time Try pack is the lowest commitment: buy once, run a few short clips at 720p Fast, and judge whether the output fits your use. Move to an annual plan only after you know your monthly volume. A small team making one or two short social clips a day will burn through 500 credits quickly at 150 credits per 15-second clip, so the arithmetic in the table matters more than the headline price.

How to make your credits go further

  • Draft short. Generate a 4-second 720p Fast version first. Only render the final length and resolution once the prompt works.
  • Fix the prompt, not the dice. If the subject or motion is wrong, rewrite the prompt with a clear subject, action, camera move and setting before you regenerate. Random retries of a vague prompt are the most common way to waste credits.
  • Use image-to-video when the look must match. Starting from an image you already approve keeps the style stable and avoids paying for several text-to-video attempts.
  • Use the free tools for finishing. Convert formats, make GIFs and pull thumbnails with the free tools instead of generating new variants.

Frequently asked questions

Is HyperFrames free to use?

The browser tools on hyperframes.net and the open-source HyperFrames framework are free. HyperFrames Studio, the hosted AI generator, is paid with credits.

Does HyperFrames give free credits when you sign up?

Not reliably. The pricing page says that any signup promotion appears in your account only when it is enabled, so do not plan around free credits.

How much does one HyperFrames video cost?

A 4-second 720p Fast video starts at 40 credits and a 15-second default video is 150 credits. The Studio shows the exact credit cost before you submit each task.

Does the free version add a watermark?

The free browser tools do not add watermarks to your files. Studio generations on the paid plans are listed with no watermark and a commercial use license.

Is the HyperFrames GitHub project the same as HyperFrames Studio?

No. The GitHub project is an open-source HTML-to-video framework that you run yourself. HyperFrames Studio on hyperframes.net is a separate, hosted AI video generator that uses credits.

Try HyperFrames Studio

The Studio below is the same workspace as the text-to-video page. Write a prompt, choose the duration and resolution, and the credit cost appears before you generate, so you can check what a task costs before you commit to a plan.
